How BLOGs help your Search Engine Rankings
If you have a BLOG, you will have recognised that your page rankings have most likely jumped up the list. If you do not have a BLOG yet, you should read this and find out why 80,000 new BLOGS are created EACH DAY!
(If you want to know to how your website ranks there are several ways, One is to get the alexa toolbar www.alexa.com or the google toolbar http://toolbar.google.com/?promo=mor-tb-en and enable page rank)
I have done some comparisons lately between three webites I run, and a BLOG (like this) can mean the difference between being ranked at 4.9 Million versus 241,182 in the Alexa rankings.
Why should you get a BLOG (weblog)?
Blogs are content rich, are updated often, and tend to have links to your other pages and elsewhere. The idea is to make them have interesting content so your clients want to come back regularly.
Blogs are rich in the keyword content of your product or market, for example if you were selling sales training you would have many articles relating to sales and training. The web spiders (electronic bots that roam the internet looking for content) love these articles and see your web site as being more valuable, thus ranked higher in the search engines.
You can also inform and educate your clients in a conversational way, to show them reasons why your products or services are useful or special. You can step them through each aspect of your offering.
You can easily syndicate (have lots of people access your blog) by notifying the blog networks that you have updated your posts (called pinging). You can submit your blog to RSS (really simple syndication) servers like feedburner. www.feedburner.com. This could expose your blog (and linked website) to potentially thousands of viewers.
You can capture clients details (through an opt in box) to build your list and promote relevant products. Products like aweber can help you build your clientbase.
You can display targetted advertisements to make an income. Just pick products that compliment your product. Ask yourself, what product comes before or after yours, or is a good pairing to your product?
You can refer people to links that have an affiliation (Host beneficiary relationship or Joint Venture) so that you may gain from "traffic flow".
You could use a Blog to educate your clients about the latest changes, tips or tricks relating to your poduct or service.
So, if you do not have a BLOG yet, think about it. They are free from good providers.
One of the best advantages is you can overcome the main problem with emails (most of them don't make it through to the end user) and you no longer need to do battle with a spam filter to communicate with your clients!
