How to get a Website..

Today I will show you how to get your own website in under ten minutes.

(In the case you have one already, you are welcome to read on anyway.)

J-Six Solutions use this Web host company for our website and we chose them because they have very competitive plans and loads of features. They have special prices for each plan, and you can check them out at the end of this article.

The first step is to set up your site. That means get a domain name, then have it hosted. You can get a domain name from many different providers, ours are sourced at GoDaddy (They are very well priced).

Once you have your domain name, you simply choose an appropriate "web host plan". We use a corporate plan because it has great features.

-There are lots of "WSYWIG" (What you see is what you get) web hosting programs out there with templates, but if you want real flexibility, look for a "C Panel" function.

C Panel is like a dashboard or control panel for your site. You will need features such as plenty of GB (Space) allowance, unlimited email accounts, 24Hour 7Day access to your FTP (File transfer) manager, CGI Scripts (These are pre-prepared web language functions), Customer support, and templates.

Let's assume you go for a C Panel site, you fill out the application form from your provider online. They take your credit card details, and then your site becomes available immediately via an interim log in address provided by your host.

You need to "point" your domain name towards your website. The web host will tell you how to do this on your application confirmation, you just need the passwords, and the Domain Name Server Settings (address).

Next, your domain name will be "resolved" and this can take 24 Hours. This is when you can see your website by using your address bar.

So, you now have a website, and a Control panel. Well done.

Next, follow the instructions on the C Panel to setup an email address, and a homepage.

You are on your way...
